ASEF History
On April 18, 1998, The Oregon Pilots
Association voted to form the OPA Air Safety and Education
Foundation (OPA ASEF). Guided by the same set of officers as the
OPA, the OPA ASEF is a true 501(c)(3) non-profit organization
whose charter is to promote general aviation and aviation safety in
Oregon. The charitable non-profit status will allow for much
greater financial support, as well as tax benefits for ASEF's
supporters.
ASEF Activities
In addition to awarding the RMMF Scholarship, the OPA/ASEF has sponsored activities for children to allow them to creatively explore aviation through art and writing contests and have helped support a scholarship to help interested parties learn to fly or enhance their skills through advanced ratings.
ASEF sponsored Children's Activities
2004 Summer Aviation Camp
In the summer of 2004, OPA-ASEF proudly supported a summer day camp program for social or economically disadvantaged youth to give them a hands-on, in depth exposure to aviation and the career possibilities that the campers were not likely to consider otherwise. We worked closely with the FAA, and other aviation concerns in the Northwest to make this a reality. Several OPA chapters sponsored individual campers to ensure a successful program.
